The SGH-P900 supports the T-DMB (Terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) standard that will be used for test broadcasts during this year's World Cup championship in Germany. T-DMB is already used in Samsung's home market of South Korea for TV broadcasting to cell phones and the technology is based on the DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) digital radio technology that is used in some European countries.
It can record TV broadcasts to the 128M bytes of internal memory.
The phone has a 2.2-inch screen that can be swiveled through 90 degrees into a horizontal position for viewing. The screen has QVGA resolution (320 pixels by 240 pixels). Other multimedia support includes MPEG4, H.263 and H.264 standard video and MP3, AAC and AACplus standard audio files. It also includes Bluetooth, USB (Universal Serial Bus) and PictBridge printing support.
The phone measures 92 millimeters by 49 mm by 26 mm and weighs 124 grams. Samsung plans to officially unveil the handset at the 3GSM exhibition in Barcelona, Spain, next week.
